Mom Won’t Work

Tonight was special. And it was made special by just a simple sentence made by my daughter. Before I get to that I need to preface her quote.

This week has been pretty difficult. We’ve had a lot to do and think about. We’ll be moving to Atlanta for a new job (for me) and we’ve been getting the house ready to sell, and planning all of our moving issues. Not to mention wrapping things up at our current jobs and trying to coordinate our lives altogether.

So tonight, out of the blue, my daughter says to my wife, “I’m so glad you’re quitting your job, then you can be with us.” Such a simple phrase, yet true blue. This new job situation gives our children what they really want and deserve: their mom.

Right after she said it my wife and I looked straight at each other and couldn’t help but smile.
